ttot 17

This week has been exhausting. Last weekend I worked the whole weekend (but still managed to post) and then this week I've done a further 36 hours (it started to go up from here on, the next month I have a minimum of 48 hours a week with at least one 60 hour week in there) however this isn't why I was quite so exhausted it has mainly been down the the fact that I've had some kind of evil flu/cold thing this week which reared it's ugly head on tuesday and has been making everything two times harder than they actually were...

Monday: I woke up surprisingly early and full of life and so made my way off to the gym where I did my gruelling gym work out and then did an aqua aerobic class. That afternoon I had an appointment with the SW... which well the less said about it the better. I'm still thinking about what I'm going to do with her ultimatum.

Tuesday: I felt fine in the morning and this was all going really well, I went to the  gym did the work out and then did a body combat class (which is actually really good and it's something that I will be looking out for to be able to go to again... I then met up with a friend in the local town for a cup of tea and a natter (up until this point I was feeling fine) and then I came home and sat down to relax and it hit me, oh my I suddenly felt horrendous, so I sent a  text off to say I wouldn't be at brownies and then battled through about an hour od D&D before admitting defeat and went to bed.

Wednesday: Work... admittedly I was tempted to phone in sick, but I went to work and worked my butt off... I felt terrible and that it was a struggle to actually get through but I did and I was very proud to actually have stuck with it. I was however knackered by the time I got home and so went to bed pretty much once I got in.

Thursday: I woke up and was feeling a bit better, which was all some evil fast of my body, I was fine until I got to work when the heat from the building hit me, this was the main problem, so full on cold and flu symptoms hit (which isn't good when working with frail elderly people) so I struggled on for the rest of the day and managed to get through. Getting home to fish and chips with my wonderful hubby...

Friday: Work again, but it was a non uniform day and there were only two of us (nurses in) when there should have been 3, so I had to cover two units (55 people) on my own, given that I've only been working there for 3 weeks this was a task and a half, I'm pretty quick on picking up faces and putting them to names, but this was an ask and a half, I was very thankful for the staff members being around and being able to help me identify the right person when doing the meds. The day was hectic, I was literally running around for the majority of the day, and having an admission really didn't help either.

Saturday: I'm relaxing.. lol with my hubby, we are trying to sort out what we are doing this evening but having actually got it sorted yet...

I know it's not exactly 10 but it's a run down of the mentalness that has been my week... for more conventional 10 things click on one of the links below =D

disheartened...

I wish I had happier news to write today but I don't think I do...

Just had another hour and a half meeting with the SW...

Her comment: "It doesn't look positive for the panel"

I felt like saying to her why are we bothering then? Why sit here and make me go through all this stuff for the umpteeth time and not just say no now...

but alas she made me go through it... and has pretty much given me an ultimatum... which really does suck but I guess it is something that I have to do but apparently should have done a long time ago....

Also made me think about my family... which was actually very difficult... She also told me that I come across as impassive that I don't show emotion when talking about my past... and when I'm trying to talk about why my parents did what they did... I don't actually know how I'm supposed to show more emotion when doing this.

She's also moaning about the fact that she is having to prompt me... (well I'm sorry for not knowing what she wants me to say before she has said something)

Feeling less that encouraged to continue this process...

TToT #16.2 U, V, W....

Another day of the hop and this weekend you've got two from me... I do however apologise that my responses to comments will probably not be until the week sometime... the joys of working all weekend...

U = Uniform... I'm not sure if I am thankful for my uniform at my new job... it's just a polo shirt and black trousers... it seems a little unprofessional but the nurses now match everyone else... I just can't seem to decided if it is a yes or no on it...
V =Vaccines I'm very thankful that they exist more so because I do come into contact with all sorts of wonderful people and their body fluids... (I'm also thankful because it has reminded me to chase up an appointment that I need to sort out but also to chase up a booster that I require.)
W = Wonderful friends and how they jump to a challenge when it has been set (they helped with coming up with ideas for the last letters as I have struggled...)
X = X- Ray... no I haven't had one... but it seemed to be top on their list for X... one of the other suggestions was xmas... which is a word that I'm not a fan off.. however it isn't that long until this dreaded time of the year... I already have an idea of what to get hubby... I even have some ideas to for myself (which never really happens) I do find christmas to be a hard time of year, it reminds me of my dad, but also of spending time with all of my family and not having to worry about working, which unfortunately as a nurse is something I no longer have the luxury of.
Y = yoghurts, (odd I know) but I actually really like yoghurts, they are great for being healthy but they are also great for a quick breakfast when on the go... (which I always seem to be... I like sleep too much...)
Z = Zebra... I watched the animal maternity program the other day, which was amazing to watch especially when you see how the keepers work with the animals and look after them. One of the animals was a Zebra that obviously gave birth... (odd to be on the program otherwise...) but it was very wonderful and I'm thankful that there are programs like this that can shed light on to what the life is like for animals but also to help with the endangered species.

Now to make this up to 10... (oh dear... lol)

1 = Spending an hour doing Zumba in the gym, I'm thankful that I can managed to actually go to the gym and do these classes
2 = The internet, having this wonderful resources at my finger tips is amazing,. It's also so very useful when in my job you get faced with things that you are unsure of, so you can quickly type it into a search engine and find the answer to what you are looking for... It has also over many years given me the chance to meet new friends and also it is how hubby and I met....
3 = Running hot water, this is obviously something that most people who read this are used to and something that a lot of people take for granted, but knowing that we only get hot water if the heatery thing is switched on means that there have been times where I have come home or even gotten up and realised that it hasn't been put on and we only had cold water... needless to say this sucks, so I'm thankful for the fact that hubby and I now have a nightly ritual in checking that the switch is on and the light is shining before heading to bed...
4 = My wonderful hubby, he has to be on here, because he is wonderful and also because this week he has been very kind and caring to me, he's put up with me having doubts about myself but also put up with me when I've had stupidly crazy moments.

ttot #16 K to T

Ten things of thankfulnes time again... Going to continue to a,b,c theme of last week as kind of suggested by Kristi at Thankful Me, so without further ado...

K =Kisses, I love kisses from my wonderful hubby, just snuggling for kisses is great...
L = Love, which makes everyday worth while and makes every second of everyday worth while =)
M =Manford, Jason... (does it count? yes because it's my list!!!) We went to see him at his gig locally, it was so funny and very shocking (man can sing)
N = New trainers... I had to buy some new trainers, there's only so many wet socks I can handle, and as it is becoming colder having wet feet was not going to be an option.. so I ordered a pain online which were similar to the ones that got holes in... and they have arrived... so yay =)
O = Openness, hubby and I are very open with each other and do discuss whatever is going on, we also talk about our days and what we have done through them....
P = Painkillers, this week I've been suffering with headaches galore, and I'm not all 100% sure as to why but I have had to depend on them a bit this week...
Q = Quality time with my hubby which is always good, spending time with him and doing things that we enjoy together...
R = Reading, this week I've been reading the new Lynda La Plante book - Wrongful Death, which is very well rewritten and currently has me gripped...
S = Snuggles, I really enjoy snuggling up and I'm thankful that my hubby enjoys it too and also lets me put my cold hands/feet on him to warm them up when I need too...
T =Tescos home delivery, it saves my poor arms (hehe) carrying all the heavy shopping up the silly amounts of stairs to my house... so I'm glad I don't have to have that hassle...

gym....

I think the guy at the gym is trying to kill me with my current routine.. don't get me wrong I enjoy the gym and I'm enjoying doing it but the side effects of the weights during the week has been funny at times but otherwise just painful...

These weights might not seem particularly heavy but I have had a bit of a period where I didn't go... so this is my routine...

Cross trainer = Start at 3rd level and working up a level a minute for 10 minutes

Leg press 4 x 12 reps with 30 seconds maximum rest in between sets, weight from: 80kg to 100kg (plus Body Weight)

Chest Press 4 x 12 reps with 30 seconds maximum rests in between sets, weight from: 20kg to 25kg

Low Row 4 x 12 reps with 30 seconds maximum rests in between sets, weight from 30kg to 35kg

TRX squats single legs 4 x 12 reps with 30 seconds maximum rests in between sets

TRX squat row 4 x 12 reps with 30 seconds maximum rests in between sets

Rowing 1500 meters at a steady place or 500 meters as fast as possible then 20 second rest and then the same again to cover the 1500 meters

Powerplate high power 60 seconds squats and stretches...

I've also done a couple of classes recently, which have been interesting... the spinning class was evil, however the Zumba class was really good, I plan to try and get to one of these again

TToT#14.2

Rawr...
I feel a bit cheerier today, (which is good) so I'm going to try and do a post... I'm not promising 10 more things.. it's more just an update of what I did yesterday...

So Yesterday having had a bit of a lie in with my hubby we then got up and wondered about the house while trying to decide what we were going to do. We finally settled on going to the cricket. It was a semi final for the 40 over type... which obviously the local team were playing...

It was a day of bizarre weather. On the way there we had spitting rain and so obviously we had waterproofs with us, however when we got there it was glorious sunshine, especially on the side that we were sat... From our side of the grounds we watched huge black clouds roll in from the otherside... oh and also the lightening, it was funny at one point when one side of the pitch was dark and the other bright... so strange...

We then went to meet up with FIL to have some food at a local pub, the food was actually very nice, and the chocolate fudge cake was worth the hours at the gym that I'm going to have to put in... the pub happened to have a band playing...

They were actually very good and did some good covers, a lot better than the one that was at the pub over the road who we only heard as we were leaving... Needless to say anything would have sounded better than the cat calling woman over the road...

Today we went to a picnic with some friends where there was a band playing.. again we had fun playing dodge with the weather.. from rain to sunshine.. all so very bizarre... The music was very good, despite them playing 'singing in the rain' when it was sunny, we were then awaiting the rain and it did come.. so we blamed them completely...

TToT #14

I currently have a couple of posts that are in the draft stages, granted they are not very interesting and I usually give up on them (thus why they are drafts) and I'm sort of going through that phase with the whole blog, at the moment it seems to only actually be the blog hop at the weekend that is making me post anything at all... I guess it's because I set the blog up to actually write about our adoption process, however as this seems to have gone into almost a complete stop I think this is the issue... hopefully it'll start to pick up again...

Anyway I'm going to try and do these but obviously I might just give up half way through...  such is life...

1. My Husband, I'm always very thankful for all of his kindness and loving that he gives me. He is indeed wonderful This week he has helped me make the headboard for our bed The gorgeous one here -----> which has now completely finished our bedroom so yay! He's also given me lots of cuddles and kisses this week while I've been feeling grotty, so I'm definitely grateful and thankful for him and his wonderfulness this week =)

2. Finally having a meeting with our new SW, it's been a big thing this week, granted it's also given us a lot to think about and it has played on my mind quite a bit during the days, but I guess until it's gone through and we know one way or the other I guess I will continue to over think everything that I/we have said to her or have mentioned... so yes.. kinda of thankful... but also a lot fearful...

3. Good friends, who this week have indeed lifted me up when I have been having a low moment but also have been keeping me laughing when I've been in great moods and also have had a load of laughs with... all of these are great

4. The gym. I haven't been for a long time mainly because I've not been feeling 100% and also because I've lacked some enthusiasm to go, so today I went to the gym (as they have finished the refit) so I did my program plus some extra... and so I've now been rebooked for a review (partly because they've lost my program) so I'll have something new to do next week... and possibly use some of the new equipment that they have at the gym...

5. Good TV. It's that time of the year where all of the new series are starting on the TV. We've starting watching 'Under the dome', which is really good and I'm looking forward to seeing more of the series and understand the plot (I could buy the book and read it which I may indeed do at a later point but at the moment I'm happy to watch the TV version.) We've also started watching Wentworth Prison, which is apparently a remake of prisoner h (I never saw it) it is really good and worth a look, I have a thing for crime shows so this is along those lines...
The other one is the final series of CSI New York (9). I have been an avid follower of CSI since the beginning and have enjoyed all of the spin offs New York and Miami, and I am sad to see New York go but given that having the main character of CSI change and the loss of huge amounts of fans means I understand why they are saying no more.

6. Tea! It has to be on my list. It has been on my list for the last 14 weeks and so I can't actually leave it off. I do love a cup of tea esspecially when I am feeling unwell which has been a lot this week... My tea has to be white with no sugar and pretty strong...

7. BBQ Hula Hoops... I seem to be going through a phase with this again. I tend to go through phases with some crisps, it's only ever hula hoops or wotsits... both of which I like but only in small amounts... Too many and I find them sickening. so here's for the crisp that you can then put on your fingers...

8. Going to the cinema with my hubby. We went last night and went to see About Time.. which is actually really good, and romantic, it was nice to spend time with hubby and to snuggle in the cinema whilst the film was on. Worth going to see if you want a slightly bizarre (time travel) but pretty slushy romantic film to watch

9. Running in the rain... It was absolutely bucketing it down when we got out of the cinema last night... however we both decided that we'd make the run for the car.. it was funny, we got to the car both looked at each other and just went 'urgh' and then laughed... (odd I know)

10. I'm thankful for this hop, it was hard to think through this 10 and I know this is kind of a cop out but I just can't think of anything else.

There you go 9 and a half things....

mixed blessings?

So... We have finally met our new SW... which was well a bit odd...

She has been very honest with us, and had something to say which made me feel cold on the inside but then some other things that made me feel a bit better.

She started by telling us about what had happened at the panel that we were told we wouldn't need to go to back in July, which now according to the new procedures that have been put in place was actually as to whether they would continue our assessment or drop it (as they do a sort of initial assessment and then can go to panel to drop the assessment or to continue it). We were told that it was a very close call for them to actually continue our assessment. There are still a lot of concerns that they have and now we will at least be able to go through them all and actually try and clear them up.

We have no time frame, this is due to the complexity of our situation and the fact that there are so many issues that we need to go through... I haven't even mentioned about my job yet because I feel it may just be one thing too far, so I might wait before I tell them...

The good news is our new SW is a senior practitioner within the team so this is a bonus as she is very on the ball and is willing to listen to us and take what we say on board... She has also told us that she will keep us informed through the process which is more than the last one did...
